With support for POP3 and IMAP4 email, the LG Chocolate BL20 can be used to access your regular email accounts, including web-based email and email accounts from your ISP.
It’s easy to set up, with an email wizard to help you along. Settings for a number of popular web based email services, including Hotmail, Yahoo! and Google Mail, are pre-loaded, so you you don’t have to enter any complicated settings – simply your email address, password and user name.
Multiple accounts can be set up, so you can check several accounts simply by switching between them.
If you’re using an email account for which there are no pre-installed settings, after you’ve input your account details, you will be asked for a few further details, including POP3 server address and SMTP server address. These can usually be found on your email provider’s website support or information section, or you may be able to find them in Know Your Mobile’s table of settings here.
Setting up email
1. From the standby screen, press the central navigation pad Menu select button.
2. In the mailn menu, scroll to highlight Messaging. Press the navigation pad Select button.
3. Scroll down to Mailbox. Press Select.
4. The first time you use this, you are prompted to set up an email account. Press Yes.
5. Choose the email provider option you require. Press Select.
6. Type in your full email address. Scroll down to the Password panel and type in your email account password. Press Continue.
7. The User Name for your account will be presented in a panel. This is usually the part of your email address before the ‘@’ (check with your email provider if you’re not sure). Edit if necessary. Press Continue.
8. The message Update inbox now? appears. Press Yes.
9. The phone will now connect online to your email provider and download headers for messages. A message confirms that the account name has been configured and is ready to use. Press Done.
10. You are returned to the Messaging menu screen. Highlight Mailbox and press Select.
Details of messages in your selected email account mailbox are displayed. Press Open to see a list of email headers.
A list of email headers appears onscreen, three at a time. Scroll through these and press View to look at the full email. The phone will connect to the email server and download the email.
You can press Reply to respond to the email. Alternatively, for more options press the Options softkey. A sub-menu of choices appears. If you press Reply or Forward you can add email recipients and type in a new header or copy in a similar way to desktop email.
Creating a new email message
- To create a new email, in the Messaging menu, highlight Create New Message and press Select.
- Highlight E-mail and press Select
- You can now compose a new email
Adding extra email accounts
- To add further email accounts to your phone, in the Messaging menu scroll down to Settings and press Select.
- Scroll down to E-mail and press Select
- Choose E-mail Accounts and press Select
- Press Options. Highlight Add New and press Select
Proceed to add a new account. You can choose which email account you wish to have active by highlighting the one your require and pressing Activate in the E-mail Accounts menu.
