Windows Phone 7 handset made by LG gets snapped

A French Microsoft employee is said to be behind the posting on Flickr of an LG Windows Phone 7 model. While we might not know the specs of this specific handset, we do know the minimum hardware requirements for the OS. That means the pictured device should be running a 1GHz processor.

Windows Phone 7

Hmm, can we think of the name of such a beast? It should be a snap. The phone probably has a capacitive touchscreen with no less than 8GB of memory. Other features that are necessary for this to be a Windows Phone 7 unit include an accelerometer, a camera with at least 5MP and flash, a-GPS, a digital compass and light and proximity sensors.

As HTC HD2 owners sadly found out, to be running Windows Phone 7, this LG model can have only 3 buttons for “back”, “Windows” and “search”-all on the front. The first batch of phones powered by the new finger friendly OS will be available later this year and might include this beauty from the Korean based manufacturer.

The LG Mini GD880 is the first feature phone out of LG’s camp to pack the HTML 5 capable Phantom Browser – which essentially offers a faster and stable web browsing experience. Easily standing its own ground among the vast web browser offerings out there, the Phantom Browser is Webkit based that also allows up to 10 windows to be opened at the same time. Additionally, it offers an improved JavaScript and Flash performance to really compliment the sheer depth of experience that accompanies the browser.

For those who forgot about this handset, the LG Mini itself features a 3.2” touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, aGPS, FM radio, and 7.2Mbps HDSPA connectivity. Finally, users can expect a decent social networking experience while LG Air Sync allows information and data to be synced over the air to a computer, phone, or the web – basically if the phone is lost or stolen, you’ll still be able to access important data from any computer.

LG planning to release 20 Android Phones

June 10th, 2010 LG Themes No comments

LG Mobile

LG is not doing very good at this moment. CEO Nam Yong hopes to turn things around with his plan to flood the smartphone market. LG is planning to release 20 android phones by the end of 2010.

Android & Windows Mobile

LG has been loyal to the windows phone operating system and plans to ship a number of new phones with windows phone 7 version when it launches later this year. However, its focus is clearly on Android devices now. CEO Nam Yong said that LG wanted to have half of its models running the Google operating system Android. This push of 20 models will certainly go a long way towards achieving that goal.

Mobile Market

The mobile market is where LG is performing best and focus on this should increase its revenue significantly. LG said it needs more time to turn around its ‘weak’ financial position and expects poor results for the second quarter of this year while it changes its focus.

20 models is quite a lot to release before the end of the year and may lead to a situation where LG is competing with itself by spreading itself too thinly. Clearly LG sees the recent growth in Android’s market share as a potential money maker.
